Homophobic Drama Queens Wring Their Hands Over CA Marriage Equality.
Those who wish to be married in California and be called “bride and groom” will have to wed in another state. At least that’s the latest claim from the RRRW Drama Queens.
…..
The problem surfaced when a couple who married in the state crossed out “Party A” and “Party B” on the marriage license and inserted “bride” and “groom.” Brad Dacus of the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) picks up the story.“The state of California refused to recognize this marriage between a bride and a groom, and said [their marriage license] had to be filled out again to [read] only Party A and Party B – that the state of California no longer recognizes a marriage between a bride and a groom or a husband and a wife,” Dacus explains.
…..
Right. Only same-sex couples are allowed to marry now in the state of California. That’s why no marriage licenses have been issued to male-female couples since June 15th, when same-sex marriage became legal in the state.
Does that mean homosexual groups have not quite told the truth about their objectives? “Homosexual activists have been saying all along that homosexual marriage takes nothing away from heterosexual, traditional marriage,” the attorney contends. “They are lying. They know they are lying, and this is the evidence to prove it.”
No. What it means is that certain bigots are more obsessed with a few words on a piece of paper than the union they keep claiming is so sanctified they can’t let same-sex couples share it with them. Then again, it might just be that if it doesn’t say “bride” and “groom” on the lines they can’t figure out which of them is which.
Dacus contends the situation is all the more need for California voters to approve Proposition 8, which would overturn a state Supreme Court ruling legalizing homosexual “marriage.” Voters will get their chance to do so in November.
Human rights should never be put to the voters. Anybody who disagrees should be the first to put their rights to “the will of the people”. Perhaps Dacus would like to volunteer his “freedom of Religion” to the California voters.
According to a PJI press release, one minister asks, “What’s next? Will the state of California force…[ministers] to use the terms ‘Party A’ and ‘Party B’ in the ceremony itself?”
My, that’s a mighty heavy persecution card there. Is he capable of holding it all by himself? Of course he knows his claim is entirely false, as do discerning people. The state cannot force a minister to do anything in their own church. But people like the minister rely on the ignorance of their audience and hope it will get them what they need, be it cash in the collection plate or votes for whatever ballot measure they’re stumping for.
Kevin Snider, chief legal counsel for PJI, believes it is a “denial of the legal realities” to say that same-sex marriage takes nothing away from traditional marriage.
My marriage does nothing to anybody else’s marriage. But if some people are so hateful they’re determined to destroy their own happiness over some words on a piece of paper or the fact that same-sex couples actually have the same rights they do, I can’t help them. That’s a job for a licensed therapist.
