Children Taught About Gay Marriage At Public School!

Friday, October 31st, 2008

It’s true. I read about it here. (Italics added by me)

…..
So, this morning I’m driving Sully to school. I’m still in my pajamas (which is routine… I don’t ever get dressed unless I have to), and half-awake because I haven’t had my morning coffee yet. We pull up to the school, and across the street are groups of old ladies holding their “Vote YES on Prop 8; Save Marriage” signs. I see red. It’s 8:30 in the god damn morning!!! And in front of a public school!!!
…..

So that’s how it is. Same-sex marriage must be banned or (allegedly) children will be taught about it in schools, and we simply can’t have that. Apparently if that did happen children would learn same-sex marriage existed (they’d never learn that any other way it seems) and decide they wanted to marry people of the same-sex rather than the opposite sex. Everybody would “turn gay”, nobody would ever procreate again (we can’t,or so we’ve been told), and we’d go extinct–after we ban religion and send religious people to the camps . Right.

But it’s seemingly fine for the Bigot Brigade to teach children about same-sex marriage by holding a rally outside their schools. No, children aren’t going to pay any attention to a horde of screaming people holding signs. None of those children is going to wonder what this “Proposition 8″ is and ask, thereby requiring somebody to tell them about SAME SEX MARRIAGE. Or if they ask a school official is that person supposed to say, “I’m not allowed to tell you under penalty of law”?

So when little Johnny comes home and asks you, “Mommy, what’s this Gay Marriage thing? and you get that constipated look on your face”, don’t run to the phone to ask your lawyer if you can sue the school or Teh Gay Agenda. Instead cal your Bigot Brigade friends who think picketing public schools is appropriate, and tell them to cut it out. And stop feeding us this nonsense about how we’re the ones indoctrinating your children.

BTW, be sure to read the rest of Kristen’s story about her encounter with the Bigot Brigade.

Proposition 8 LTTE : Every Hateful Bigoted Lie in Seven Sentences.

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I was browsing the news and letters to the editor and came across this doozy. It manages to cram every lie and stereotype into seven sentences. From the Merced Sun Star.

Editor: The California Supreme Court gave gays no new rights — they already had “the same rights, protections and benefits” as married couples. Proposition 8 won’t change that. It has nothing to do with equality.

But it has everything to do with tolerance, and religious and parental rights. The court gave them license to indoctrinate children in homosexual practices, to force people and churches to not just tolerate but to embrace their lifestyle, even if it’s morally unacceptable to them.

They claim it won’t happen, but it already is. That’s not tolerance of other people’s moral choices, is it?

If you support tolerance and rights, vote yes on Proposition 8. If you’re unsure, prevent what a dissenting justice called “cataclysmic transformation” of society.

DAN BRINTON

Oakland

Oh Dan, you are a piece of work. Are you really that ignorant and hateful or do you just play it for newspaper LTTEs? Let’s take this point by point.

The California Supreme Court gave gays no new rights — they already had “the same rights, protections and benefits” as married couples.

On the contrary, “Domestic Partnerships” did not provide the same rights, protections and benefits as legal marriage. They were much like marriage, but not the same. Rather like the Colored Only drinking fountains were like the White Only drinking fountains, but not the same. That’s why the California Supreme Court determined that it was unconstitutional to deny same sex couples marriage.

Proposition 8 won’t change that. It has nothing to do with equality.

Yes it will. Proposition 8 will eradicate our right to legally marry. It has everything to do with equality. Stop lying.

But it has everything to do with tolerance, and religious and parental rights.

Tolerance of what, your intolerance of gay people? Since when is that a moral choice? Sorry. We have no obligation to tolerate intolerance–none whatsoever. And you’re audacious beyond belief to think you have the right to try to enshrine discrimination into the state constitution then turn around and cry for “tolerance”.

The court gave them license to indoctrinate children in homosexual practices, to force people and churches to not just tolerate but to embrace their lifestyle, even if it’s morally unacceptable to them.

What’s this “indoctrination” you speak of? Don’t give me that school garbage. The schools don’t teach heterosexuality or heterosexual marriage, and that “the schools are going to teach homosexual marriage” lie has been debunked by my wife, California teachers, and the California Superintendent of Schools himself. It is complete and utter bull-poo.

This also has nothing to do with churches and people who don’t approve of us (and BTW, it’s not a “lifestyle”, it’s an orientation). We couldn’t care less about your churches or you so long as they stay away from us and our rights. It’s about our fundamental human and civil rights, which people like you are working overtime to eradicate through a campaign of hatred and lies.

If you’re so afraid that giving same-sex couples equal rights would cause a “cataclysmic transformation” of society perhaps you should move to the deep South. You’d be among friends there, for there are plenty of people who still believe interracial marriage (if not the passage of the Civil Rights Act) caused the downfall of society. Darn supporters of equal rights keep screwing everything up for the defenders of Traditional Values .

Yes on 8 Campaign Resorts to Extortion to Get Their Way.

Friday, October 24th, 2008

This just goes to show how desperate their getting. I was watching the news last night with my lovely wife and we saw a report about letters the Yes on 8 campaign has been sending to prominent organizations that have donated to No on 8 Equality for All. The letters were nothing less than threats trying to shame the companies for their donations to EFA, and stating that if an equal donation wasn’t made to Yes on 8 their names and donations to EFA would be made public. Read the full story and see the video here.

So this is what it comes down to? All the claims of “Won’t somebody please think of the children?!?!” and “It’s all about our deeply held religious beliefs” are falling by the wayside. They’re now dropping the pretense and acting like the thugs that they are. I’m guessing that they think they might just lose this and they’re getting desperate.

This is good though. They’ve dropped the “Won’t somebody please think of the children” and “My deeply held religious beliefs” lies that actually fool some people. They’re now showing their true nature–complete and utter thugs who want nothing more than to keep another group oppressed. Whether they did so soon enough to change the course of Proposition 8 with the election only 11 days away I don’t know, but I remain hopeful.

Protect Traditional Marriage!

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

As you can see, “traditional marriage” and it’s staunchest advocates have proven themselves so worthy of protection (from Teh Gays) and special rights.

Part One, the Bush Years

Part Two, the Clinton Years

Hat tip to my lovely wife for her video crafting skills.

Yes on 8

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Now that I have your attention, watch this video (after heeding the warnings).

This video contains descriptions of extreme violence and nearly-subliminal, graphic depictions of violence.

If you are a survivor of violence, suffer PTSD, or are otherwise susceptible to “triggers,” DO NOT WATCH.

Seriously.

Hat tip to my lovely wife, who painstakingly put it all together.

Now go vote NO on Proposition 8. Otherwise you’ve completely missed the point or are truly sick in the head and heart.

This is a great video with a catchy tune. Enjoy, and be sure to rate it up at YouTube.

No on Prop 8 (Gender Auditors)

Friday, October 10th, 2008

My lovely wife posted this on the Newswire, but I think it’s so fabulous it’s worth posting here to make sure it gets maximum exposure. Just one more reason to vote NO on 8:

Iowa Supreme Court to Hear Arguments Against Same-Sex Marriage Ban.

Monday, October 6th, 2008

This will be one to watch.

The Iowa Supreme Court has scheduled a date to hear a legal challenge to the state’s same-sex marriage law.

Both sides will have 30 minutes to present cases to the justices on Dec. 9.

…..

I don’t know if it will go as well for Iowa as it did for California. I do know if the statute is overturned the bigots will immediately scream about “activist judges” and whine for a constitutional amendment just as they did here. Some things you can count on.

The RRRW. Obtuse, Deluded, Batpoo Crazy, All of the Above?

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

I assume anybody who isn’t living under a rock knows about the current financial woes of the United States. Many individuals and groups have been speculating on the causes and ways to address the situation. Of course no major event would be complete without the RRRW putting in their two cents. As usual it’s a doozy.

…..
Mounting consumer and household debt as housing prices fall is one of the main reasons behind the current crisis — a crisis that religious conservatives say has moral roots.

The narrative goes roughly like this: the “collapse” of the traditional family, widespread divorce and a “permissive” culture have led to a disregard for personal responsibility.

A culture focused on instant gratification — through the overuse of credit cards to buy consumer goods, for example — has also lost other “traditional values” such as thrift and hard work.

“You can’t have a strong, vibrant society when you don’t have strong, vibrant families. It’s a crisis of commitment, it’s a crisis of responsibility,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a conservative lobby group with strong evangelical ties.
…..
Upholding “traditional” values which they say have been under assault since the 1960s informs much of their outlook, ranging from their opposition to abortion and gay rights to a professed aversion to heavy debt loads.
…..

I rather wonder who these people would have blamed the Great Depression on. There was no “Gay Rights Movement”. Abortions were mostly illegal and not an issue of nationwide concern at the time (they’d been made illegal thanks to the efforts of doctors, not busybody religious types). Many families, especially farm families, were large and very dedicated to keeping things running. None of their usual targets existed back then.

It seems this is just more of the usual. Blame everyone and everything but the real culprits. You don’t look at every problem–whether it’s a hurricane, financial crisis, house fire or school shooting–and scream “It’s because of gays, abortionists and Hollywood!!!” At some point you have to realize you’re getting redundant, and sounding like a fool.

Sorry, but you can’t solve every problem by recreating Leave it to Beaver or Davey and Goliath. (Psssst….those were a fictional TV shows.) For people who live in reality, not the Bible, we need to discern the real problem and develop real solutions. And that is what people like Tony Perkins will never learn.

Why We Must Keep Up The Fight.

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Thanks to legal same-sex marriage in MA, and marriage in CA that hopefully will remain legal despite efforts to eradicate our rights in November, gay teens are beginning to look to a future that includes marriage and families.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For Joe, a 16-year-old high school student, marriage and family are definites. He plans on being in a monogamous relationship and wants to have several children, most likely by adopting. Joe, who is gay, believes these goals are attainable.

Twenty years ago, teenagers like Joe may not have thought about marriage and children. Twenty years ago most families looked the same: A mother and father — or single parent — and children. But the face of the family is changing; more children are growing up with two mothers or two fathers today, and a recently released study shows the numbers are going to continue to grow.
…..
Researchers interviewed 133 young gay people from the New York City area between the ages of 16 and 22. More than 90 percent of females and more than 80 percent of males expect to be partnered in a monogamous relationship after age 30. Two-thirds of females and more than half of males expressed likelihood they would raise children in the future.

“Traditionally, gay and lesbian people have not been brought up to think about marriage,” said study co-author Dr. Anthony R. D’Augelli, a professor of human development at Pennsylvania State University. “We wondered if this was something young gay people might relate to whatsoever.”
…..

Surprise, surprise. Gay people want the same thing straight people do. They want to marry and have families. Sadly the “pro-family” faction is doing everything it can to stop us from doing so claiming they have the right to dictate to everyone what constitutes a marriage and a family. So gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals are left with unfulfilled dreams, and families are either broken or never created.

This is why we must keep up the fight to defeat Proposition 8, Proposition 102,Amendment 2 and every other anti-gay bill they throw our way. It’s not just for us. It’s for teens like Joe and the families they hope to have one day. It’s for all of us.
