RRRW Actively Supports Bullying of LGBT Students.
April 17 will be the 2009 Day of Silence in United States schools. The Day of Silence is an annual student led project of the GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight and Education Network). The Day of Silence is designed to draw attention to the bullying and harassment endured by LGBT students. Despite what some claim it is not sponsored or endorsed by any schools or school administrators, nor are any students compelled to participate in any way. Furthermore, students’ participation in the event is not disruptive to classes or other school events. How can remaining silent for six hours disrupt class? Ask any teacher if they’d be bothered by a student sitting quietly in class and get back to me with their answer.
But of course the RRRW is engaging in their usual lies and rabble-rousing. They’re spreading hateful lies about the Day of Silence and actively working to continue, if not increase, the bullying and harassment LGBT students face every day.
Judith Reisman of WorldNutDaily compares GLSEN to the Hitler Youth. Why? Because they ask students to not engage in bigotry toward LGBT students. If Reisman had more than half a brain filled with Christianist dogma she’d realize that the Hitler Youth were trained to illogically hate people just because they were told to–which is the precise opposite of what the GLSEN is asking students to do. But we can’t expect logic and compassion out of WND or its writers, can we? But it seems a Gays=Hitler comparison is mandatory for the RRRW these days.
One “News” Now fosters the lie that schools/teachers participate in the DOS and advocates parents keep their bigoted brats home on the 17th. I’m all for that (fewer bigots in school means fewer instances of harassment for LGBT students). Of course they have to slam LGBT individuals as well.
“Well, often students take a vow of silence on this day to protest perceived or real injustices against students who are homosexual, self-identify as being homosexual, bi-sexual, transgender or — I’m sure there is another acronym out there, too — but anyway, those students who are perceived or self-identify as that, they take a vow of silence,” he says.
Funny how they scream “persecution” if you look at them the wrong way yet they think nothing of saying whatever they want about us–even about children–because they do so based on their “deeply held religious beliefs” so that makes it OK.
The Capitol Resource Institute actually wants fine Christofacist students to hand out little cards filled with anti-gay lies on the Day of Silence so as to help increase bullying and hatred of LGBT students. Among these lies are:
*Nurses visit school gay clubs 1-2 times a month to test for AIDS
*Homosexuals have the highest domestic violence
*Virtually all homosexuals came from homes of neglect, abuse or were molested as youth by non-family members
Pardon me, WTF is a “Gay Club” anyway?
So what are the bigots “defending” when they protest things like the Day of Silence? Religious liberties? Moral values? Sexual purity? That’s what they claim. But in reality they’re defending this.
An 11-year-old boy was found dead in an apparent suicide Monday in Springfield, Massachusetts. The boy’s mother says school bullies tormented her son with daily assaults of anti-gay taunts.
Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover hanged himself by tying an electrical cord around his neck that was fastened to a support beam in his home after enduring another day of being taunted at New Leadership Charter School.
Sirdeaner L. Walker, the boy’s mother, said she had repeatedly called the school to intervene in the bullying over the past six months. She said she called administrators weekly to discuss the issue.
“They were always saying, ‘you’re gay, you must be gay, you act like a girl’,” Walker told Springfield-based The Republican.
…..“This tragic loss of life is the latest example of why anti-LGBT defamation must be eradicated from our culture,” said Neil G. Giuliano, president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), a media watchdog and gay rights group, in a statement.
“Words matter and can turn what should be a safe place for learning into a dangerous and isolating [place] for many students – gay and straight – who regularly face verbal and physical attacks,” he added.

The people who proclaim themselves the “Moral Values” party actively support behaviors that lead to children like Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover killing themselves because they simply can’t take the bullying any longer. Then when, one day a year, students remain silent to call attention to the abuses LGBT students endure, the RRRW ramps up the attacks with vicious lies and more bullying. They are the moral equivalent of the KKK, the Neo-Nazis, the Skinheads, and other such hate groups. They are sick, depraved, hateful people who merely wrap themselves in the the cloak of righteousness and morality.
