When The APA Denounces “Ex-Gay” Therapy What Are the RRRW Anti-Gays To Do? Lie, Of Course.

I mean, doing the ethical thing and putting the psychological, spiritual and physical well-being of LGB people (whom they insist they love) first would be out of the question. Admitting in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence that they’re wrong to insist people live a lie and go without love, affection and intimacy–just to please religious bigots–would be asking too much. So instead they spin and lie their way out of the APA report that states outright that sexual orientation cannot be changed through therapy, and attempts to do so are harmful.

It’s only natural that Dr. Jones would denounce the APA and claim they’re being “unscientific”. The study he conducted with Dr. Yarhouse was dismissed by the APA because;

“We don’t believe the claims were proven, to be honest,” said Dr. Glassgold in an interview. “In our looking at all the research we find that people don’t change their underlying sexual attraction. What they do is figure out a way to control their attractions. And some learn to live a heterosexual life but mostly for religious motivation.”

In other words, nobody’s sexual orientation actually changed despite claims to the contrary. Instead gay people repressed who they were and deprived themselves of love, affection and intimacy to appease the religious bigotries of others.

The bigots then claim that “the longer people stay in the program the better their chances for success”. If their idea of “success” is a self-loathing gay person who denies reality and lives a lie in the misguided belief that it makes them “holy” then I guess they’re correct about that one. Of course brainwashing takes time, so naturally there is a greater chance of “success” when participants stay in the program longer. There’s also a much greater financial gain for Exodus International ministries, which is something the video leaves unsaid.

They can spin it all they want but the facts remain; sexual orientation is not changeable via “therapy” and programs like those offered by Exodus International cause harm. Sadly I imagine there will be many more victims of the “ex-gay” industry before they gasp their last breath.
