Brad Pitt Believes People Should Be Free From Unnecessary Interference and Have Equal Rights Under Law, Gets Hate Mail in Return.
This is nothing new. The RRRWers, famous for insisting on personal freedoms and screaming that the government shouldn’t interfere in their private lives, always want to tell us how to live and want to use governmental regulations and laws to back them up. And nobody is safe from their wrath, particularly people like Brad Pitt, who is continually in the spotlight.
…..
“When someone asked me why Angie and I don’t get married, I replied, ‘Maybe we’ll get married when it’s legal for everyone else,’ ” Pitt tells me. “I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it—hate mail from religious groups. I believe everyone should have the same rights. They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I’ve had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment.
For the record, legitimate research has shown that children raised by same-sex couples are as happy and healthy as children raised by opposite-sex couples. Sadly anti-gays like to distort existing research, cite phony experts and otherwise mislead the public so as to impede equal rights for LGBT individuals.
Am I surprised that Pitt gets hate mail from those who clamor for “personal freedoms” and decreased “government interference” because he stands for exactly that? Of course not. Those individuals only want such things for themselves and everyone exactly like them. Everyone else they want to keep under strict control and they’ll use whatever means they have at their disposal to achieve those goals.
“Would it bother me if a child of mine turns out to be gay?” he asks. “No, not one bit. Listen, I want my kids to live the lives they want to live. I want them to be fulfilled. I hope I teach my kids to be who they really are.”
…..
What? If one of his kids is gay he won’t send them off to be spiritually, psychologically and even physically abused in the name of Jesus? He must be one of those evil atheists! Oh, wait…he is.
“Man, I resent people telling others how to live! It drives me mental!” he declares loudly. “Just the other night, I heard this TV reverend say that Angie and I were setting a bad example because we were living out of wedlock, and people should not be duped by us! It made me laugh. What damn right does anyone have to tell someone else how to live if they’re not hurting anyone? How many times do you think real love comes to someone in a lifetime? If you’re lucky, maybe two or three.”
…..
Brad, I love you . In a totally platonic way of course. And I don’t think my lovely wife will be jealous in the least over that.
“Do you know how you tell real love?” he asks. “It’s when someone else’s interest trumps your own. I like to put it that way: trumps your own. Love of somebody else—of family, of your kids—becomes the most important, most worthwhile thing in your life. It’s what you foster and protect.
…..
I agree. And love has nothing to do with gender, gods, having children (or not), those children being biologically yours (or not) or any other such manufactured notions. Sadly that’s what the RRRW will never understand.
