WORST: CBS affiliate CBS13 reports that Roy Ashburn, a MARRIED state senator from Southern California was arrested for allegedly driving drunk after leaving a gay bar with another man in the car.

WORSTEST: CBS affiliate CBS13 reports that Roy Ashburn, a married, Republican state senator from Southern California WITH A HISTORY OF OPPOSING GAY RIGHTS was arrested for allegedly driving drunk after leaving a gay bar with another man in the car.

 
Another source indicates that it is unlikely Ashburn was at Faces, since Tuesdays are “Latin Night” at the popular club and “A white guy would stick out like a sore thumb”. However there are reportedly numerous clubs gay and straight clubs in the area so it’s possible Ashburn was at one of them rather than at Faces.

 
After his arrest, Ashburn issued the following statement:

“I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did.

I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me - my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate.”

Needless to say, Ashburn has earned himself an entry on Conservative Babylon.

 

That’s right. Jeffery Joseph Czech is defending Nadia Schulman. In case you’ve forgotten or hadn’t heard, she’s the infamous “Octomom”, who had a litter of babies via artificial insemination, then tried to use them as a means of getting her own reality TV show. Czech also donated $50K to Americans United to Preserve Marriage. In Czech’s twisted fundamentalist mind committed same-sex couples who want to marry rank below a woman who’d pimp out her own infants for publicity. It’s always nice to see those Christian Ethics in action….

Speaking of anti-gay bigots with deep pockets, don’t forget to check Base8 frequently. It’s constantly being updated and what you see today is not what you’ll see tomorrow.

Bisexual means a person can be romantically and sexually attracted to either gender. It doesn’t mean they’re inclined to fall in love with both at the same time. There are already millions of “deadbeat dads” out there and it has absolutely nothing to do with same-sex marriage. This is exactly why I despise most “faith based” charities–they don’t truly want to help but only to push their religion on others. Protect “Traditional Marriage”! is the rallying cry of those who demand bans on same-sex marriage. It is claimed that allowing same-sex marriage will “devalue” opposite-sex marriage, increase divorce, and even lead to decreases in the number of opposite-sex couples taking that walk down the aisle. Needless to say, that’s all bunk, and now we have more data to prove it.

I reported previously that divorce rates in MA, where same-sex marriage has been legal for five years, were at their lowest since 1940. Now a nationwide study shows that higher divorce rates existhttp://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2010/01/divorce-rates-appear-higher-in-states.html in every state that has a ban on same-sex marriage. Over the past decade or so, divorce has gradually become more uncommon in the United States. Since 2003, however, the decline in divorce rates has been largely confined to states which have not passed a state constitutional ban on gay marriage. These states saw their divorce rates decrease by an average of 8 percent between 2003 and 2008. States which had passed a same-sex marriage ban as of January 1, 2008, however, saw their divorce rates rise by about 1 percent over the same period.

As is somewhat visually apparent, those states which have tended to take more liberal policies toward gay marriage have tended also to have larger declines in their divorce rates. In Massachusetts, which legalized gay marriage in 2004, the divorce rate has declined by 21 percent and is the lowest in the country by some margin. It is joined at the top of the list by Rhode Island and New Mexico, which do not perform same-sex marriages but idiosyncratically also have no statute or constitutional provision expressly forbidding them, as well as Maine, whose legislature approved same-sex marriage only to have it overturned (although not banned constitutionally) by its voters.

Overall, the states which had enacted a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage as of 1/1/08 saw their divorce rates rise by 0.9 percent over the five-year interval. States which had not adopted a constitutional ban, on the other hand, experienced an 8.0 percent decline, on average, in their divorce rates. Eleven of the 24 states (46 percent) to have altered their constitutions by 1/1/08 to ban gay marriage experienced an overall decline in their divorce rates, but 13 of the 19 which hadn’t did (68 percent).

The differences are highly statistically significant. Nevertheless, they do not necessarily imply causation. The decision to ban same-sex marriage does not occur randomly throughout the states, but instead is strongly correlated with other factors, such as religiosity and political ideology, which we have made no attempt to account for. Nor do we know in which way the causal arrow might point. It could be that voters who have more marital problems of their own are more inclined to deny the right of marriage to same-sex couples.

The RRRWers insist they should be able to prevent us from marrying (among other things) “for the sake of the children”. Perhaps there should be regulations regarding who can and cannot procreate. Just because one has functioning reproductive organs and is willing to have unprotected sex that doesn’t necessarily mean they should procreate and raise children. * The millions of children abused and/or neglected by their parents could testify to that. Case in point:

WICHITA — A Wichita woman convicted of prostituting her small daughter to a neighbor received a life prison sentence this morning.

The man charged with paying for sex with the child also received a life sentence.

The mother and her friend Reggie Stafford were each convicted of two counts of rape and one of aggravated criminal sodomy. The mother was convicted of aiding and abetting the sex crimes.

During a trial in August, the girl testified that when she was between the ages of 5 and 6, her mother would take her to Stafford’s house, near where they lived in the Planeview neighborhood, and he would have sex with the young girl.

Sedgwick County District Judge Greg Waller ran the mother’s life sentences concurrently, meaning the 48-year-old won’t be eligible for parole for 25 years.

But the judge made Stafford’s sentences consecutive, meaning the 52-year-old will likely die in prison. Under the law, he will not be able to face a parole board for 75 years.

Waller pointed to evidence he would not admit at trial that showed that Stafford had sex with the woman’s other two daughters when they were children. They are now grown. He could not be charged with those crimes, because the statute of limitations had run out. But Waller could consider the evidence during the sentencing.

Raising a child is serious business. Children are under their parent’s care, either directly or indirectly, 24/7 for 18 years. There is a great deal of damage a parent can do to a child in that amount of time. Yet we currently do nothing to determine if a person is fit for such a task. We only wait until they prove they aren’t, sometimes giving them multiple chances. Only after the damage–potentially irreversible damage–is done to the child(ren) do we take action.

Am I actually suggesting we restrict who can have children? Of course not. I value reproductive freedom. But it’s a travesty that teens and young adults are given no formal education/training in parenting. Such courses could avoid many problems with inexperienced parents (just because you can reproduce doesn’t mean you know what do do after–it’s not innate knowledge) and flag potential problems before they occur.

No, I’m not actually claiming that heterosexuality leads to sexual perversion. But if that headline made you bristle, just think about how LGBT people feel when we’re made the targets of specious attacks by people who seek only to harm us.

A New Jersey judge has dismissed animal cruelty charges against a cop accused of committing a sex act with young cows, saying a grand jury had no way of knowing whether the animals were “tormented.”

Moorestown police officer Robert Melia, who is currently suspended, allegedly engaged in oral sex acts with five calves in Southampton in 2006.

Since New Jersey currently has no law explicitly banning such an act, prosecutors in Burlington county brought animal cruelty charges against Melia, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.

The judge’s dismissal does not mark the end of Melia’s legal woes.

He, along with girlfriend Heather Lewis, was arrested in April 2008 for sexually assaulting three girls over a five-year-period.

Authorities investigating those charges reportedly uncovered videos on his computer of a girl being “subjected to sexual activity” in addition to taped encounters between Melia and the calves.

Time for an industrial size bottle of Brain Bleach to get those images out of my head.

 

These days it seems children are safer with lead tainted toys than they are with “Youth Pastors”.

A 25-year-old youth pastor from a Tempe church has been arrested after admitting to officers he engaged in sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl at least three times over the last two months, according to Chandler police.

Joshua O’Bannion of Gilbert, who was working as an intern at Christ Life Church, 1137 E. Warner Road, was arrested at his home on Sept. 9 on suspicion of sexual conduct with a minor and sexual abuse, according to the Chandler Police Department.

That day, the 14-year-old girl disclosed that she had sex with her youth minister on three separate occasions in July and August, police said.

For all of the frothing they do over The Sanctity of Marriage, and all the efforts they put into keeping same-sex couples from enjoying the rights they take for granted (a little too much for granted, really), RRRW Conservatives have proven themselves far too irresponsible with the institution of marriage. They commit adultery, they divorce, they commit more adultery, they divorce again, they hike the Appalachian Trail… All the while they proclaim themselves the arbiters of our morality! Truly, the only way to protect marriage would be to ban their participation in it.

Case in point; Assemblyman Mike Duvall of California. Mike is a rabidly anti-gay Republican who got a perfect score from the Capitol Resource Institute for his support of Proposition 8. He was so adamant that Traditional Marriage be defended against those nasty homos. Well Mikey reportedly cheated on his wife. It seems he cheated on his mistress too. Worse yet he described in lurid detail his affairs with the two women on the floor of the Assembly Appropriations Committee meeting. His confession was caught on tape. My lovely wife has full details and follow ups. It’s definitely NSFW, and I myself had to take a long, hot shower after hearing the specifics.

Divorce rates among Conservative Christians in the US are significantly higher than among other religious groups, and far higher than those of agnostics and atheists. About 90% of those seeking to commit adultery list their religious affiliation as “Christian” on an Internet site expressly for cheaters. Once caught in the act the typical response of the RRRW Christian is to deny as long as they can, then claim s/he “prayed and got forgiveness” and expect everything to return to normal (a few crocodile tears help if they can be mustered). It doesn’t matter how many people you harm or how much damage you do here, you see, so long as you say your imaginary friend gave you absolution (who can prove otherwise) and told you to keep on keepin’ on.

Marriage is intended to be a lifelong bond between mature, committed adults. Conservatives have, with their persistent adultery, divorce and utter disrespect for their vows, turned marriage into a mockery. If anybody has cheapened and essentially “destroyed” marriage it is they. Why are they allowed to project their shortcomings onto same-sex families, and deny us our rights as a result? If anybody should be denied the right to marriage in order to “protect” it, let it the people who have actually “destroyed” it; RRRW Conservatives.

This is for you, the mass media, that is left in your hands. There is something powerful in them. Once you get these documents, they have a ??? in them, they an investigation in them, and they have powerful witnesses concerning my situation. If you take a step at a time you will fall over backwards and in the end you’re going to find the most powerful heart-warming story revealing that something used to be understood and that is as far as I can go. I really want to help you but I also need to make sure that the media is also protected.

Interviewer: I understand that. Would we be getting most this, what you are saying, would we be getting most of this from Jaycee?

PG: I guess she would also handle back the truth … Hum, this is what we are going to do, we are going to try and make this, hum, because I just, hum, the Department of ??? Wait til you read that document. My life has been …, wait til you hear the story of what took place at this house and you are going to be absolutely impressed. It’s a disgusting thing that took place from the end to the beginning. But I turned my life completely around, and to be able to understand it you have to start, I’m so sorry. I want to help you further but I also need to protect the sheriff officer, and I need to protect the government and I need to protect the rights of Jaycee Lee Dugard.”

PG: It is a story about turning a person’s life around and having those two children, those two girls, they slept in my arms every single night. (crying) I never touched them, you just have to … do what I ask you to because … I can’t go any further because if I do you know I’ll go too far. People are going to be coming forward at this trial and that’s not all. I am going to give them at least in a state of shock when you see how many hundreds of thousands of people are going to come out and start testifying about something. Just do me a favour and follow the protocol that I asked you to follow because you make your own decisions from now and what you want to do; this is not for me, you will find out that this is not a play or a way of monopolising anyone. It is a very well constructed and powerful written disclosure. Please do that and then we’ll work from there.

Jaycee Dugard was abducted in 1991 when she was eleven years old. It has just been discovered that she is alive, having allegedly been held captive for the past 18 years by one Phillip Garrido and his wife.

A California girl abducted at age 11 in 1991 has been found alive, police said on Thursday, adding her kidnapper apparently fathered two children with her and kept all three living in tents and sheds behind his house.

Dugard’s alleged kidnapper, Phillip Craig Garrido, 58, a registered sex offender in California who served time in prison for rape and kidnapping, and Nancy Garrido, 54, were in custody after being arrested on Wednesday, police said.

“None of the children had ever been to school, none had been to a doctor, they were kept in complete isolation in this compound, if you will, at the house,” Kollar said.

Suspicions were first raised after Garrido tried to enter the University of California at Berkeley campus to pass out leaflets with his two daughters.

His interaction with the two female minors, aged 11 and 15, raised suspicion and a police officer looked into his background.

But Phillip Garrido is not merely a registered sex offender and kidnapper who allegedly kidnapped a girl, twice impregnated her and kept her and her two children prisoner for nearly two decades. He’s a certifiable religious nut.

I independently obtained from each of them their own verbally stated verification(s) of their individual “Declaration Of Affirmation” as being honest and truthful, each reaffirmed that they did in person witness Mr. Garrido’s presented demonstration, experienced its results, and acknowledge placing their individual truthful and honest signatures on their own individual Declarations (as I showed each of them their’s, and questioned them about). Clinically insane? Perhaps. But it appears that Garrido is incorrigible, so whether he is placed indefinitely in a psychiatric facility or in prison he should definitely be kept away from the public. He is a menace to society.
