The All-American Basketball Alliance announced in a news release Sunday evening that it intends to start its inaugural season in June and hopes Augusta will be one of 12 cities with a team.
“Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league,” the statement said.

Don “Moose” Lewis, the commissioner of the AABA, said the reasoning behind the league’s roster restrictions is not racism.
“There’s nothing hatred about what we’re doing,” he said. “I don’t hate anyone of color. But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here’s a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like.”
Lewis said he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of “street-ball” played by “people of color.” He pointed out recent incidents in the NBA, including Gilbert Arenas’ indefinite suspension after bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room, as examples of fans’ dissatisfaction with the way current professional sports are run.
“Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands or grabbing their crotch?” he said. “That’s the culture today, and in a free country we should have the right to move ourselves in a better direction.”

BUCHANAN: I think a lot of people get up there for a lot of reason, but my argument would be: get the finest mind you can get. Get real scholars. Whether you agree with Bork or Scalia or not, they’re tremendous minds and I think there are other minds. I’m sure the Democratic Party, I’m sure has women there that can stand up head-to-head with Scalia and make the case, who have got tremendous credential, knowledge, background.

I will say, “I think maybe those are the fastest guys we got, that maybe they’re the fastest guys in the country, maybe they’re the fastest in the world. If they’re all-our Olympic team in hockey is eight white guys from Minnesota, I don’t assume discrimination.
Why do you assume discrimination simply because you got one component on the Supreme Court? Where is the genius you think who’s a woman and a feminist who sure ought to be on that Supreme Court? Go for her. Don’t go for an affirmative action person you know was picked because she’s a Latina and because she’s a woman.
MADDOW: Pat, when I look at the United States Supreme Court and I see 108 out of 110 white people, I see 108 out of 110 men. I’m-I don’t look at that and think, “God, white guys are naturally better at this type of work than other people who aren’t getting these jobs.” I don’t think that way.

So from Pat Buchanan’s perspective white folk (men in particular) did everything important across the course of history and therefore deserve all the choice positions in government–probably everywhere else as well. Women and non-whites should stay where they belong; cooking, cleaning, tending the gardens, shining shoes, etc.
Buchanan seems to forget some important facts. White people didn’t exactly “build” this country, at least not without a lot of help from non-whites who were slaves or near-slaves.
Black people were slaves beginning with the colonization of Virginia in 1607 until the passage of the 13th Amendment in 1865. They labored on sugar, tobacco and cotton plantations and in the homes of their owners. Chinese laborers were paid a mere $28/month for the very dangerous task of blasting tunnels for the transcontinental railroad. Hispanic immigrants have long been recruited for low paying, dangerous work. Without all of them and other non-whites/immigrants our nation wouldn’t be where it is today.
Pat Buchanan also tried to whitewash the military history of the US. Plenty of non-whites fought and died in our many wars. Some 200,000 black soldiers fought in the Civil War. Two thousand landed at Normandy on June 6, 1944. Almost 600,000 served in the Korean War. Ten thousand Native Americans served in WWI and 25,000 served in WWII. More than 10,000 Hispanics fought in the Civil War, 200,000 fought in WWI and 65,000 in WWII. Some women enlisted under male pseudonyms in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars then began serving actively during WWI. More than 350,000 women served in WWII. Many of these individuals served in “segregated units” and lost their lives despite the fact that they might not have had equal rights, or even full personhood, in the nation they were fighting for.
This was not a nation forged by and for white men. Plenty of non-whites and women labored, fought and died to get it where it is today. They have as much right as do white men to share in the fruits it has to offer. There’s no reason to relegate them to menial positions while reserving the “ruling class” for white males.
Rachel Maddow has a stronger stomach than I given she was able to listen to his entire rant and not vomit. Still, she did a beautiful job tearing Buchanan’s racist lunacy apart. People like Buchanan really don’t belong in suits and ties like civilized people. They should be required to wear their proper uniforms at all times so they can be easily recognized, and decent folk can stay clear of them.
Am I going to say I’m surprised by this? Not at all. The people who scream about Teh Homosexual Agenda is destroying society are typically cut from the same cloth as those who insist “them illegals” are doing the same thing. You know the type I’m sure. SAN DIEGO COUNTY — In a stretch of desert just north of the U.S.-Mexico border, men and women in khakis and red, white and blue recently gathered at a border watch post they call Camp Vigilance.
Their topic: the next offensive in the nation’s immigration wars. The target: Illegal immigrants and their U.S.-citizen children who receive public benefits. The tool: A California ballot initiative that would end public benefits for illegal immigrants, cut off welfare payments for their children who are citizens and impose new rules for birth certificates.
“We will be out in full force to qualify this initiative,” said Barbara Coe, who helped develop Proposition 187, the 1994 measure that would have ended benefits to illegal immigrants but was ruled unconstitutional. “Illegals and their children are costing the state billions of dollars.”
Barbara Coe boiled over one day standing in the lobby of an Orange County, Calif., social services office. Looking around her, she told a Los Angeles Times reporter, she was reminded of the United Nations. Then she noticed the windows for Spanish and Vietnamese speakers were open, but the English window was not.
“I went ballistic,” she said. She’s been that way ever since.

Vitriolic, conspiracy-minded and just plain mean, Coe routinely refers to Mexicans as “savages.” She claims to have exposed a secret Mexican plan (the “Plan de Aztlan”) to reconquer the American Southwest. Last May, at a “Unite to Fight” anti-immigration summit in Las Vegas, she launched the kind of defamatory rant for which she is infamous. “We are suffering robbery, rape and murder of law-abiding citizens at the hands of illegal barbarians,” she warned her cowering audience, “who are cutting off heads and appendages of blind, white, disabled gringos.”

But the most curious thing about the former police clerk — whose friends have said she told them she was forced from her job in 1994, after using a city-owned camera to photograph people she thought were illegal aliens — may be her offhand comments to the Denver Post this November. In a profile of her close friend, U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), the paper said Coe described speaking to and belonging to the Council of Conservative Citizens. That group, which has called blacks “a retrograde species of humanity,” has long been listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group — as has Coe’s own California Coalition for Immigration Reform.

Claiming an unlikely 26,000 members, the California Coalition for Immigration Reform (CCIR) is headed by Barbara Coe, a woman who has referred repeatedly to Mexican immigrants as “savages.” Coe founded CCIR in 1994 as a co-sponsor of California’s Proposition 187, which would have denied social and medical benefits to illegal immigrants and their children.

CCIR, which has an extensive web site linked to many other anti-immigrant groups, works closely with the Voices of Citizens Together (VCT), one of the hardest-line of the organizations.
Coe and VCT chief Glenn Spencer stage annual Fourth of July rallies that have drawn prominent neo-Nazis. Barbara Coe’s political activities convinced the Orange County Weekly to name her in 1999 one of the “scariest” people in Orange County.
CCIR has sponsored billboards along the Arizona-California border that read, “Welcome to California, the Illegal Immigration State. Don’t Let This Happen to Your State.”
But of course Coe and her hate group don’t just despise Mexicans. They also hate Obama (whom Coe once wished would contract Swine Flu). Of course if the proposed bill were to pass people like Obama wouldn’t have the opportunity to become president, which is just what these people want.

The proposed initiative, recently unveiled by San Diego political activist Ted Hilton, is believed to be one of the first attempts to end benefits for the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants. Supporters of the initiative hope to use it to challenge the automatic citizenship of children born in the U.S. to parents who are here illegally.
The 14th Amendment to the Constitution says that “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” Backers of the initiative contend that illegal residents are not “subject to the jurisdiction” of the U.S. and that, as a result, their U.S.-born children should not be citizens.
Ted Hilton and his Taxpayer Revolution (not as much as an eyesore as CCIR but still chock-full of hate), while not yet designated an official Hate Group, are very much on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s radar. Organizers have just begun to collect the required 488,000 voter signatures to qualify the measure for the June 2010 election. So far, Hilton said, their effort has raised about $350,000 — far short of the $4 million generally needed to pay signature gatherers to put a statewide initiative over that hurdle.
But illegal immigration was a powerful political issue in the state’s last deep economic downturn in the early 1990s, and the initiative’s backers hope it will be again.
Because the RRRWers always need a scapegoat for their problems and somebody to wage “war” against. Thanks to Proposition 8 they can’t harp on “gays getting married destroying Traditional Marriage and forcing their ways on us” boogeyman so this election cycle its “those illegals”.

It sounds like something that would happen in the Deep South in the 1950s. Instead it’s 2009 and it happened in Philadelphia. While it’s a private organization, The Valley Swim Club advertises open membership and took $1900 from Creative Steps Day Camp so its campers could swim there. But the first day the campers tried to do so the privileged racists at the club got their bikinis in a twist.
