Kevin A. Strom, Pedophile and White Supremacist, Gets 23 Months.

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008
  KevinAlfredStrom
Kevin Alfred Strom will be a guest of the state for the next two years.

Kevin Alfred Strom plead guilty to one count of possession of child pornography in January and was sentenced to 23 months in prison yesterday morning. The judge rejected his claims that he “unwillingly” possessed the porn and his request that he be sentenced to time served.

Throughout Strom’s trial last year for enticement of a minor and witness intimidation— charges that were thrown out by Moon— the prolific writer, radio broadcaster, and founder of the white-rights National Alliance offshoot, the National Vanguard, has been silent in court, speaking only in January to denounce his portrayal in the media as a neo-Nazi and white supremacist.

“I’ve been in solitary confinement for 16 months,” says Strom. “I ask the court to grant me one minute for every month I’ve been in prison.”

During his statement, Strom said he’s been a good father to his three children, ages 15, 13 and 11, especially his severely autistic 13-year-old son, and that his predicament resulted from “false accusations” by his wife, Elisha Strom.

“I am not a pedophile,” says Strom. “I am the furthest thing from a sexual pervert.” He shared his disgust of pedophiles and child pornographers with the court, noting that he regarded sex as “holy,” and that in high school he was an “absolute straight arrow,” and was called a “prude.”
…..
He explained that the child porn photos found on his computer were fewer than 10 out of more than 100,000, and that they came from an online forum he’d visited that had been “flooded with spam,” including “sleazy, tragic” pictures of children that he deleted. “I possessed them unwillingly,” he told Moon, “but I did possess them.”

“Mr. Strom, this is an unusual case,” acknowledged Judge Moon. “But Mr. Strom, you pled guilty to charges that now you’re saying you’re innocent. I prefer people plead not guilty than put it on me.”
…..
Nonetheless, calling the child porn guilty plea “extremely serious,” Moon sentenced Strom to 23 months in prison and 15 years of supervised release. He did not prohibit Strom from associating with his minor children.

Afterward, Elisha Strom, who had contacted authorities and is the witness Kevin Strom was accused of intimidating, called the almost two-year sentence “a joke.”

During his October trial, she had testified against her husband, saying that she’d returned home to find him naked and aroused in front of the images of two young, white nationalist-movement singers whose heads had been superimposed onto two nude bodies. Moon ruled that was not illegal, and despite Elisha’s claims that Kevin had choked her to keep her quiet, he dismissed the witness intimidation charge.
…..

What a cockamamie excuse for having kiddie porn, but then aren’t they all? At least he’s off the street for 23 months, though that’s not long enough as far as I’m concerned.

Aryan Outfitters

Friday, April 18th, 2008

MoJo (Mother Jones Magazine) presents this entry into their Photo Blog. I will first present their text and a few of the photographs, then my comments.

Coming from five generations of Ku Klux Klan members, 58-year-old “Ms. Ruth” sews hoods and robes for Klan members seven days a week, blessing each one when it’s done. A red satin outfit for an Exalted Cyclops, the head of a local chapter, costs about $140. She uses the earnings to help care for her 40-year-old quadriplegic daughter, “Lilbit,” who was injured in a car accident 10 years ago.

The following is a photo essay about Ms. Ruth by New York photojournalist Anthony Karen, a former Marine who has spent several years photographing members of the Ku Klux Klan. The essay includes audio of interviews with Karen and Ms. Ruth.

Ms. Ruth obviously puts a great deal of effort into the garments she sews. That she is creating robes for KKK members to wear, and that she goes as far as to bless each one –which indicates she believes she is doing something good in the eyes of her god and religion–greatly disheartens me. I know very well that most people don’t believe and think as she does, but the fact that some (any) still do is very troubling indeed.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Martin Luther King. Jr. was a significant force in the Civil Rights Movement for 15 years until felled by an assassin’s bullet on April 4, 1968. Though he is dead his legacy and his dream live on.

King advocated non-violent protest and activism as means of achieving civil rights, economic justice and other forms of equality. He led the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the March on Washington during which he made his historic I Have a Dream speech, opposed the Vietnam War, and much more. That he was cut down in his prime is indeed a travesty.

If only more would take the lead of Martin Luther King, Jr. and advocate equality, non-violence and tolerance. The world would be a much better place were they to do so.

Yet Another RW Group Lies to Get its Way.

Friday, April 4th, 2008

What is it that these groups can’t achieve their agendas using facts, rational discussion and cooperative effort? Oh, that’s right. The facts aren’t on their side, and why use rational discussion or cooperative effort when fear-mongering and strong arm tactics have worked so well in the past? Now The Eagle Forum of Alabama is falling back on the tried and the true to enrage local residents against immigrants in a series of workshops called What You Can do About Illegal Immigration.

Clearly aimed at riling up nativist fury, the fliers for the event allege that “the average illegal immigrant household receives approximately $30,000 in government benefits each year but pays only $9,000 in taxes.”

The problem, as is often the case with the “facts” nativists dredge up to illustrate the evils of immigration, is that these calculations are wildly misleading at best. The numbers above originate in a quote from Robert Rector that was posted on the website NoFreeMustang.com, a new anti-immigration site put up by the conservative Heritage Foundation where Rector is a senior fellow. The website’s title refers to the difference between the two numbers above, $21,000, which Rector alleges is the net cost taxpayers pick up for undocumented workers. “That’s like buying each of these illegal immigrant families a brand new Mustang convertible,” he claims.

Rector is almost certainly wrong, as is reflected in a fact sheet summarizing immigration studies that was put together by the Immigration Policy Center.

According to a 1997 study by the National Research Council, part of the National Academies that also includes the National Academy of Sciences, “the average immigrant pays nearly $1,800 more in taxes than he or she costs in benefits” each year — and undocumented immigrants receive far less in government benefits (for which they are ineligible) than legal immigrants. Generally, the federal government profits the most, because it gets Social Security and other taxes, while state and local governments pick up such costs as emergency medical services for the undocumented. Still, according to a 2006 study by the Texas state comptroller, even “[u]ndocumented immigrants produced $1.58 billion in state revenues, which exceeded the $1.16 billion in state services they received.” A 2007 report by the Iowa Policy Project put it like this: “Rather than draining state resources, undocumented immigrants are in some cases subsidizing services that only documented residents can access.”

No surprise there. It’s a constant refrain I’ve heard that “illegals” drain the social service system and produce nothing. Yet much of the RW is very fond of “guest workers” for the lowest of the low work and treats them like slaves. They both claim they hate these individuals, yet secretly want them here so they can exploit them. It’s quite a vicious cycle.

That’s not all. Rector’s analysis also fails to take into account the fact that second- and third-generation immigrants increasingly benefit the United States economy, paying more and more taxes and growing the overall economy. And he ignores efficiencies that the economy gains by having these workers available to do the kind of work that most Americans shun, such as agricultural labor. The general consensus among economists is that immigrants of all types — legal and illegal — provide a substantial net benefit to the U.S. economy.

This isn’t the first time that Rector’s been wrong. In 2006, he told the far-right NewsMax.com that the proposed Kennedy-McCain immigration reform bill would likely result in a minimum of 103 million legal immigrants in the next 20 years. For that to happen, nearly the entire current population of Mexico would have to migrate to the U.S. And to reach his maximum estimate of 200 million people moving to the United States in that same period, you’d have to throw in the equivalent of the current population of Central America, too.

There are many reasons the bigots put forth for opposing immigration, be it legal or “illegal”. On the surface they’ll speak of laws, the economy, etc. What is often left unsaid except by the more openly racist is that if “too many” immigrants come to the USA from places like Mexico we’ll eventually have more non-whites than we will whites, and the bigots see that as very bad indeed. The notion of the US being anything but predominantly white and English-speaking strikes terror in their hearts. Giving up their majority status, and therefore their self-proclaimed right to run things, is simply not part of their plan. (Have you ever asked yourself why there are no Minutemen and no proposals for a “wall” at the Canadian border?) The fact that Latinos tend to vote Democratic is no doubt a factor in the RW’s desire to keep our South of the Border neighbors out.

It’s not surprising that the Eagle Forum is touting misleading information about immigrants. In the last few years, the group has added immigration to its list of social evils, which had long centered on the gay rights movement. In 2005, the group joined the “Secure Borders Coalition.” An alliance of Christian Right groups, hard-right organizations like Accuracy in Media and the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, and strident anti-immigration outfits including the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, the coalition issued a statement attacking all amnesty and guest worker proposals and vowed to oppose any candidate, regardless of his or her stance on other issues, taking a different tack.

Phyllis Schlafly, who heads the Eagle Forum, has also been a major proponent of the dominant conspiracy theory now animating the anti-immigration movement — the so-called “North American Union,” a supposed plot by global elites to surrender American sovereignty in a planned merger with Canada and Mexico. Schlafly has called for a congressional investigation into the North American Union and for the disclosure of supposedly secret documents related to the non-existent union.

I get the impression that some people might simply fall apart if they didn’t have an “enemy” to hate and fight against. Hence the need to create one. Once the Cold War was over, the RW no longer had an enemy and they began looking within the US. That’s when their war on “immorality” began, and LGBTs and womens’ reproductive rights have been the target ever since. Now that those issues are less lucrative for them both financially and at the ballot box the RW is searching for new ways to whip up the masses. Enter Illegal Immigration. The Mexicans are coming, and they want your money, your jobs and your way of life.

Of course people like those in The Eagle Forum conveniently forget that their ancestors were the original “illegal immigrants”. I rather wonder if some Native Americans wish their forebears were a little stricter about border control.

I’ll Bet You Thought Slavery in the US Ended in 1865.

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Sadly you would be incorrect, because to a very real extent it is still going on today. True, people are not being shackled sold and kept as legal property. However what is being done is very close to that, particularly with the amount of manipulation and intimidation utilized against these individuals.

Years ago when I first heard George W. Bush use the words “Guest Worker Program” I had a bad feeling. Knowing his type (Republicans who refuse to raise the minimum wage because poor people don’t count) as I do I could only envision desperate people coming from destitute nations, being put to work in our nation’s most dangerous and dirty jobs for rock bottom wages, then tossed out when their Guest Worker visas had expired. Then they’d be replaced with a fresh batch of desperate people willing to do the “jobs Americans won’t” (because we won’t do those horrible, dangerous jobs for peanuts). Now my dark visions are coming true, with an insidious twist.

March 10, 2008 – Hundreds of guestworkers from India, lured by false promises of permanent U.S. residency, paid tens of thousands of dollars each to obtain temporary jobs at Gulf Coast shipyards only to find themselves forced into involuntary servitude and living in overcrowded, guarded labor camps, according to a class action lawsuit filed by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

…..

Several of the workers were illegally detained by company security guards during a pre-dawn raid of their quarters after they began organizing other workers to complain about abuses they faced.

“We were like pigs in a cage,” said Sabulal Vijayan, a worker who tried to commit suicide when company guards attempted to detain him.

Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the complaint claims defendants engaged in forced labor, human trafficking, fraud, racketeering and civil rights violations. Signal is a marine and fabrication company with shipyards in Mississippi and Texas. It is a subcontractor for global defense company Northrop Grumman Corp.

After Hurricane Katrina scattered its workforce, Signal used the federal H-2B guestworker program to import employees to work as welders, pipefitters, shipfitters and in other positions. Hundreds of Indian men mortgaged their futures in late 2006 to pay recruiters as much as $20,000 for travel, visa and other fees after they were told it would lead to good jobs, green cards and permanent U.S. residency.

Many of the workers gave up other jobs and sold their houses, family farms, jewelry and other valuables to come up with the money. Some took out high-interest loans. Many were also told that for an extra $1,500-per person fee, they could bring their families to live in the United States.

When the men arrived in early 2007, they discovered they wouldn’t receive the green cards as promised but only 10-month, H-2B guestworker visas. They were forced to pay $1,050 a month to live in crowded company housing in isolated, fenced labor camps where as many as 24 men shared a trailer with only two toilets. When they tried to find their own housing, Signal officials told them they would still have the rent deducted from their paychecks.

The camps were miles from the nearest shopping areas, places of worship and residential neighborhoods. With the exception of rare occasions, such as Christmas, visitors were not allowed into the camps, which were enclosed by fences. Company employees regularly searched the workers’ belongings.

“This company and its recruiters exploited foreign workers who legally entered the country under the belief that they were going to be able to live the American dream,” said Mary Bauer, director of the SPLC’s Immigrant Justice Project. “Instead, they found themselves chained to an abusive employer, forced to live in a substandard labor camp and threatened with ruin if they tried to stand up for their rights. This case illustrates everything that’s wrong with our guestworker program.”

Workers who complained about the conditions they faced were threatened with deportation.

…..

By March 9, 2007, the workers had started organizing. Signal responded with an early-morning raid by armed guards on the labor camp in Pascagoula, Miss. Three of the organizers were locked in a room for hours. They were told they would be fired and deported.

Vijayan, who sold his wife’s jewelry and borrowed from friends to build a better life in America, slit his wrist in desperation. He recovered after being hospitalized.

…..

Last year, the SPLC released Close to Slavery, a report that documented the widespread, systematic abuse of guestworkers by U.S. employers. It found that guestworkers are routinely cheated out of wages, forced to pay thousands of dollars in fees to obtain low-wage temporary jobs and held virtually captive by employers or labor brokers who seize their documents. It also found that these workers are often forced to live in squalid conditions and denied medical benefits for on-the-job injuries.

The SPLC has worked in the courts and Congress to reform this system fraught with abuse and exploitation. “We are taking action to protect these workers because the Bush administration is refusing to enforce their rights,” Bauer said. “We need Congress to reform this shameful system.”

Delmonte Corporation is also under fire for serious abuse of individuals under the Guest Worker Program. Doubtless they’re one of hundreds, if not thousands of offenders.

I am utterly revolted by these practices. These people are human beings, not personal property to play around with. I just can’t fathom how people can live with themselves when they use and abuse other people like this, but then again I have a conscience. Maybe those people don’t.

The Guest Worker Program is resulting in widespread abuses of human rights and is tantamount to indentured servitude at best, and slavery at worst. The program as it is now needs to undergo a massive overhaul or be completely disbanded. Otherwise things will go on as they have been, and that is simply unacceptable.

Stand Strong Against Hate

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

The Southern Poverty Law Center is asking you to put yourself on the map as taking a stand against hate. There are currently 888 recognized hate groups in the US, an increase of 48% since 2000. The more we speak out, the greater our chances of putting a stop to them. I’m on the map. Will you join me?

Stand Against Hate Map

Hate Groups on the Increase Nationwide.

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

The Southern Poverty Law Center observed a disturbing trend between 2000 and 2007. There was a 48% increase in the number of Hate Groups in the United States. They attribute this astonishing rise largely to the ongoing debate over immigration.

The latest annual count by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) found that the number of hate groups operating in America rose to 888 last year, up 5% from 844 groups in 2006. That capped an increase of 48% since 2000 — a hike from 602 groups attributable to the exploitation by hate groups of the continuing debate about immigration. And it comes on top of some 300 other anti-immigration groups, about half listed by SPLC as “nativist extremist,” formed in the last three years.

At the same time, FBI statistics suggested that there was a 35% rise in hate crimes against Latinos between 2003 and 2006. Experts believe that such crimes are typically carried out by people who think they are attacking immigrants.

Although there were some signs that nativist hatred may be starting to abate, you wouldn’t know that by listening to the furious rants of many groups. “America is being destroyed from within by a modern version of Genghis Khan’s army,” the Emigration Party of Nevada, listed by the SPLC as a hate group, said. The group’s leader, Don Pauly, wants to send government “sniper teams” to the border and forcibly sterilize Mexican women after a first child.

…..

Promoting such theories, coupled with a history of ties to white supremacist groups and ideology, is what caused the Southern Poverty Law Center to add a major anti-immigration group, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), to its list of hate groups last year. FAIR has also promulgated the theory that Mexico is involved in a secret plot to “reconquer” the American Southwest.

“You need to understand that WE ARE AT WAR RIGHT HERE IN AMERICA,” is the way another nativist group, the Nebraska-based United Citizens of America, put it. “We are being invaded by a foreign country and we are being betrayed from within. Our government, from top to bottom, is being controlled by global elites. They have infiltrated our government at ALL levels.”

These people sound eerily similar to the average fundamentalist Christian. Their perceived threat(s) might be different, but their pattern of thinking and plan of action is essentially the same.

Here’s a more detailed look at several sectors of the radical right:

NEO-NAZIS
Neo-Nazi groups
While the number of neo-Nazi group chapters increased over the course of 2007 from 191 to 207, this rise was largely due to a shake-up within the National Socialist Movement (NSM). Although the NSM remains the largest neo-Nazi organization in the country, with 73 chapters in 34 states (down from 81 chapters in 36 states in late 2006), it suffered a mass exodus of high-profile members last year, most of whom quickly either founded new chapters of rival neo-Nazi groups or established their own new spin-offs.

…..

Two former powerhouses of the neo-Nazi scene, Aryan Nations and the National Alliance, were in states of more or less suspended animation last year. Aryan Nations still exists but is barely active. In early 2007, two of the group’s leaders, Clark Patterson and Jonathan Williams, quit to form a new Christian Identity group called the United Church of YHVH after complaining that Aryan Nations had forgotten its roots in Identity, a theology that says people of color are soulless non-humans and Jews are biologically descended from Satan.

…..

Finally, the National Vanguard looks to be all but finished. Its leader, Kevin Alfred Strom, pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and is facing up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in April.

RACIST SKINHEADS
Racist Skinhead groups
Racist skinhead gangs, or “crews,” are unstable and often transient by nature, making them difficult to track. However, over the course of 2007, it was possible to identify 90 racist skinhead outfits operating in the United States, up from 78 in 2006. Five of the new chapters are reactivated or recently established divisions of Hammerskin Nation (HSN), a once-mighty coalition of skinhead crews whose power waned earlier in this decade but is now clearly resurging. In addition to the five new domestic chapters, HSN also now claims active crews in at least 10 foreign countries, including Australia, Hungary and Switzerland.

Last September, the leaders of HSN and the Vinlander Social Club, a rival skinhead coalition in the Midwest, unexpectedly announced they had reached a peace agreement, ending a blood feud of nearly 10 years. The following month, Hammerskin Nation celebrated its 20th anniversary at Hammerfest 2007, a hate rock festival held near Portland, Ore., and hosted by the Northwest Hammerskins, a regional affiliate of HSN. The Portland-based, neo-Nazi skinhead gang Volksfront provided security. Members of the neo-Nazi group White Revolution and the white nationalist organization Women for Aryan Unity were in attendance. One of the speakers was Michael Lawrence, a prominent member of the Confederate Hammerskins, another HSN affiliate, and the founder of the Christian Guard, a major Christian Identity organization.

KU KLUX KLAN
Ku Klux Klan groups
Although most Ku Klux Klan factions continued to exploit the roiling national immigration debate in 2007 by holding anti-”illegal alien” rallies (rather than their more typical “anti-black crime” fare), last year was a relatively quiet one for the KKK. The number of Klan chapters dropped to 155 last year from 165 in 2006, marking the second straight year of decline after five years of rapid growth.

…..

BLACK SEPARATISTS
Black Separatist groups
The death last May of black separatist cult leader Yahweh ben Yahweh (born Hulon Mitchell) coincided with the ongoing rebirth of his Nation of Yahweh, a notorious religious sect that has preached violence against “white devils.” Nearly 500 Nation of Yahweh members, many of them conspicuously flaunting material wealth in the form of expensive cars and jewelry, attended the funeral of Yahweh ben Yahweh, who shortly before his death was released from parole after serving 11 years of an 18-year sentence on federal conspiracy charges related to 14 murders committed in South Florida in the 1980s.

…..

The New Black Panther Party, a racist group unrelated to the original Black Panthers, was also highly active in 2007. Although Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz was barred from entering Canada last May because of his radical ideology, Shabazz did successfully organize a major rally for a black hate crime victim in West Virginia, made a public show of force in Jena, La., and held an Atlanta “Black Power Summit” last October that was attended by about 100 party members from across the country.

But wait, there’s more. I’m sure my LGBT readers will recognize this next group.

Other events of importance on the radical right included the emergence of Watchmen on the Walls, an international and incredibly virulent anti-gay organization with strong ties to Latvia. The organization has gained a foothold in the United States among Russian-speaking Slavic immigrants on the West Coast, holding a major conference in Lynnwood, Wash., in October.

Yes, good old Watchmen on the Walls. I’m very familiar with those homophobic and anti-Semitic hate-mongers.

Needless to say the significant increase in hate groups is disturbing. I can’t help but think the RRRW government we’ve had for the past seven years has helped contribute to this increase. The nationalistic, racist, homophobic attitudes they’ve instilled have created a perfect breeding ground for these groups to flourish. Sadly I don’t know if the trend will be reversed, or how long it may take.

Hate Touches the Third Generation.

Friday, March 7th, 2008

For most of us the horrors of The Holocaust are something we experience in history classes, movies and television shows. For one young Pennsylvania man it was much more than that. His grandfather, who had been imprisoned in Auschwitz, gave him a first-hand account of the events. Now anti-Semitic hatred has been visited on the young man himself, in the form of a violent attack.

“He told me stories about the Holocaust, but I thought I’d never have to live through a hate crime,” said the student, who suffered a broken nose and a fractured orbital bone in the attack. “I never thought I’d have to deal with a hate crime.”

…..

Four Temple students were suspended by the university last week and the attack was strongly condemned by school president Ann Weaver Hart, who wrote: “Hate crimes will not be tolerated by Temple University.”

The four suspects - Michael Walsh, 20, of Florham Park, N.J.; David Scott, 20, and Steven Scott, 19, two brothers from Willow Grove, Montgomery County; and Bryan Pediero, 19, of East Brunswick, N.J. - turned themselves into Philadelphia police on Wednesday and yesterday to face the music, police said.

The four were charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person, ethnic intimidation and criminal conspiracy, police spokeswoman Officer Christine O’Brien said.

…..

Temple police have video of the incident in front of Alpha Epsilon Pi house on North Broad Street near Norris, cops said.

The 23-year-old victim and his 22-year-old friend had emerged from the Owl’s Nest Pizza shop around 1:30 a.m. and were swarmed by a group of young men, police said.

The victim remembers that seven males walked up to him and his friend, who is not a Temple student.

“You f—ing Jews! You f—ing [Jewish epithet]!” are the chants he remembers from that early Friday morning.

“Are you part of this f—ing Jewish fraternity?” at least one asked.

They punched him in the face, he remembers.

When his grandfather heard about the attack, “he cried,” the young man said.

Since the beating, the victim said he walks around in fear - scared that he’ll be a victim of a hate crime again. *

It is my fervent hope that the perpetrators get the maximum possible sentences for what they have done. The notion that dislike of another person allows one to cause harm to them is one that I find particularly abhorrent.

To the victim and his grandfather I offer my deepest condolences. This should never have happened, and if I had my way it never would have.

White Supremacist found with child porn.

Monday, January 21st, 2008
  KevinAlfredStrom
Yeah, he’s definitely got that “Hey little girl–you want a piece of candy?” look about him.

Kevin Alfred Strom, founder of the White Nationalist (as well as homophobic) group National Vanguard pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in federal court recently.

Kevin Alfred Strom was originally scheduled for a trial this week on several child porn charges. Instead, the 51-year-old pleaded guilty to a single count and prosecutors dropped the remaining charges against him.

…..

Strom was once part of the leadership of the National Alliance, a West Virginia-based organization Potok said was a white supremacist group.

Strom edited some of the organization’s publications and produced and sometimes hosted its shortwave radio and Internet broadcast.

“Jews are so dominant and influential in debasing and deceiving white women and girls on such a massive scale that, to any decent white person, no forgiveness is possible,” Strom said at the beginning of one August 2003 radio show.

Jews debase and deceive women and girls? That’s the pot calling the kettle black, or perhaps good old-fashioned projection.

Elisha Strom, who is estranged but not divorced from her husband, said they moved to Greene County in 2000, when Kevin Strom was working for National Alliance.

…..

Things started to break down for the couple in 2006, after Elisha said she returned home one day and found her husband sitting naked in front of the computer looking at child pornography.

Afterward, in an apparent attempt to patch things up, the two signed a notarized contract in which Kevin Strom agreed to seek treatment for pedophilia. But the couple’s relationship continued to disintegrate.

…..

In August 2006, investigators seized Strom’s computer during a raid of his home. He was arrested in January 2007 after a federal grand jury indicted him on charges of witness intimidation and possession of child pornography.

…..

In April, Kevin Strom was indicted on an additional charge of attempting to sexually entice a minor. Authorities said he’d been fixated on a 10-year-old classmate of his stepdaughter’s.

…..

However, judge Norman K. Moon threw out the charges. Though he said there was “overwhelming evidence” that Strom was sexually attracted to the girl, Moon ruled that there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him with attempting to sexually coerce her.

…..

The trial for the remaining pornography charges was postponed until Monday. In a summary of what the case would have been had it gone to court, Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Gould wrote that Strom later acknowledged to authorities that he’d downloaded child pornography.

Strom will remain at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail until his sentencing. He could face up to a decade in prison at his April sentencing in U.S. District Court, though federal guidelines could call for a much lighter sentence.

It would be interesting to do a psychological study to determine if there is a correlation between openly espoused hatred of one or more groups and criminal sexual perversions. Given the number of such cases I’ve seen I imagine there would be.

In the meantime I’ll recommend Strom for Conservative Babylon. He’ll fit right in there.
