Phelps Family unable to find Ledger funeral, writes “Open Letter” to Ledger’s family.

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

The hateful yet somehow amusing Phelps family had planned to protest the funeral of Heath Ledger for his role as a gay man in Brokeback Mountain. The only problem? They were unable to discover where the funeral was being held. Their lust for attention is so strong that they released this Open Letter to Heath Ledger’s family. You simply must read it, it’s a doozy.

Open Letter to the Family of
Heath Ledger
Dear friends:

For misguided reasons you are hiding the body of Heath
Ledger, and refusing to divulge the time, date, and place of his
burial in Perth, Australia, so that we at Westboro Baptist
Church cannot attend - in respectful proximity - and conduct a
religious service.

“Religious service”. So that’s what you’re calling it now.

Please reconsider. For the following reasons:

1) Heath would want us to appear - in religious protest and
warning to the living - that they should repent, “lest they also
come into this place of torment.” Lk. 16:28. Like the rich man
in Hell in Luke 16, Heath is pleading even now for somebody on
earth to preach the truth to his family, lest they join him in Hell.

2) Heath himself could come back to life for a brief period to
speak to his loved ones on earth, he would lift up his voice in a
hideous scream, to wit: “Listen to Phelps! For God’s sake,
Listen to Phelps.”

He would? Then why didn’t he appear to you in a dream and tell you where his funeral was being held?

3) You owe it to the youth of the world, whom Heath misled via
“Brokeback Mountain” into believing it was OK to be gay. I
say, you owe it to the youth ofthe world to use Heath’s funeral
to correct that lie. It’s NOT OK to be gay. It is a great sin
against God. It will destroy the life and damn the soul. All
those whom Heath misled will arrive ultimately in Hell, and
they will curse Heath to his face throughout all eternity.
Please tell us the time, date, and place of Heath’s funeral in
Australia. Thank you.

Despite the hateful bile the Phelps family spews, they’re becoming an outright joke. I find it hard to believe even they take themselves seriously any longer. Their claims are so far over the top that any rational person would be compelled to almost laugh in their faces. Sooner or later they will burn out with the combination of their obsession with gays and their need for the spotlight. With luck they’ll take a few of their companion haters with them.

Bigoted morons to picket Heath Ledger’s funeral.

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

The hate-filled members of the Westboro Baptist Church plan to picket Heath Ledger’s funeral because of his role in Brokeback Mountain. They’ve produced this lovely news release to announce their intentions and their glee over their belief that Heath is burning in hell.

If WBC and the Phelps family were truly moral they’d be protesting things that are really abominations. May I suggest any, or all, of the following:

The Darfur Conflict.

Starving child Darfur

Hungry and starving people, including 13 million children, right here in the USA.

47 million Americans without health insurance.

Two years later New Orleans is still in shambles from Hurricane Katrina. It’s just a bunch of poor black people, so who cares?
9thward 2007

But what am I thinking? RRRW fundies never care about anything of substance. Doing so would take real time, effort, money and above all, a conscience.

Heath Ledger dead at 28.

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008
Ledger was found dead in his Soho residence in New York City today.

Ledger’s family, including father Kim and mother Sally and sister Kate spoke to reporters in Perth this afternoon.

“We, Heath’s family can confirm the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda,” his father said.

“He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper. He was down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving, unselfish, individual (and) extremely inspirational to many.”

…..

New York police said they could not confirm Ledger was suffering from pneumonia.

“This is the first I’m hearing that,” Lieutenant John Grimpal, from the New York Police Department, told Macquarie Radio.

“The medical examiner, once he or she conducts an autopsy, will determine exactly the cause of death.”

…..

TMZ reports the actor was in full cardiac arrest by the time emergency services arrived at the apartment. They attempted to perform CPR on him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

…..

In 2005, he was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain.

…..

Ledger’s other film credits included A Knight’s Tale, The Patriot, Casanova, Ned Kelly, Lords of Dogtown and Monster’s Ball. He recently appeared in I’m Not There, one of several actors playing a role representing Bob Dylan and was currently working on the movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, directed by Terry Gilliam and in which he was to star alongside Christopher Plummer and Tom Waits.

…..

Rest in peace, Heath.
